PERMAGUARD UNIVERSAL: Mixing Diatomaceous Earth with Your Wheat The following account of how to mix DE with your wheat was forwarded to me by a friend, and is therefore in the personal form of a letter. I leave it as is. I don't know the author. "Bill,
here’s how to do it. But first let me address the issue of safety.
I do not have permission from any government agency concerning the following
claims.
Subsequently to posting this to our page a very informed individual
alerted me to the fact that DE can be very dangers to humans if it is
breathed into the lungs. I therefore advise all those using it to take
the greatest precautions if they choose to use this substance. It is safe
to ingest, etc., but it is very detrimental to be breathed into the lungs.
I don't remember who this individual was, be he appeared to us to be very
informed, holding a responsible station in a related industry. HHR

A Successfull Whole-Wheat Bread & Roll Recipe Note: This recipe was formerly posted with an error which would prove to be disasterous to any attempting to make bread from it, for which I profusely apologize. It has been corrected, so please don't hesitate to give it another try! Mix:
Let
set for 10 minutes to sponge. Mix down, and add: Then knead in approximately 3-41/2 more cups of whole wheat flour, or until the dough is soft and stretchy, but not tough. Form loaves, and let rise for twenty minutes in a 120F oven, or in a warm place covered with a damp cloth. When it has sufficiently risen, close your oven door, and turn the oven up to 350F. Bake for approx. 27 minutes, or until golden brown. Butter the tops, and let the loaves cool wrapped in a damp cloth (this will soften the crust tremendously.) Makes two loaves. Now, cut a slice, and enjoy! Use the same dought to make French Bread, Pizza Crust, or Bagels You can also make French Bread ( I often use yogurt instead of water for French Bread, as it gives it a slightly sour flavor, but I use around 31/2 c. yogurt instead of 23/4 c., as it is thicker), rolls, or pizza crust out of this dough, by adjusting rising and baking times. Makes two French Bread loaves or around twenty rolls and I’m not sure how many pizza crusts, but around four. To
make bagels, roll out the dough to about 1 inch thickness, then take a
large cup and cut out circles of dough, then cut out the middle with a
very small cup or bottle or a baby bottle lid. Boil 2 quarts of water
in a pan and bring to a boil. Add 2 tablespoons of honey to the boiling
water, and mix in, or let it boil in. Drop bagels into the water, and
let cook approximately 1 minute on each side. Remove and place on greased
cookie sheet. Then bake in oven at 350 degrees until golden brown, approximately
15 minutes.
