About the songs....

For those who might be interested, and to provide friends with a place to download my songs, I am making this page available as a place where they can be downloaded. If you have a dial-up connection, the transfer times can be trying. I do make myself available for any who may wish me to come and minister in music at their churches, and more info on that should be forthcoming. For those who wish to have me come play at their churches, I do so for free, but do ask that a "no hype" offering be taken. Blessings.

NEW RECORDINGS:

On some of these newer songs I have broken with tradition a bit, and cut lose on the guitar to a good degree. These songs would include the electric version of "Always", "Here He Comes", and "Jesus Always Treat Me Right". I would have to add to those, "That Would Be Me" and "Turn Around Christian", two new songs recently posted. . These more recent songs have been recorded on a newer system, (which is still quite inadequate), but has afforded me the ability to add drum tracks, which makes them sound much better in that respect, but the vocals are not as good as the old ones, both because I'm not singing as well, and also becuase I can't seem to "eq" them as I used to on the old system. There are more songs that I will be adding here, both old and new, as well as the liklihood that I will delete a few that are not so great. Hope you enjoy!

Originals
First off, it should be said that all the songs are originals, written by myself, and performed by me on all the instruments and vocals. So they have limitations!

Style:
The songs pretty much have their own style, which is generally a soft folksy sort of gospel style, with some bluegrass type selections. However there are definitely exceptions, such as with "Didn't," or "Nothing to Pay," the former being rather Country-like, and the latter kind of bluesy. We hope these are no offense to anyone, but I am satisfied at least that there is nothing contrary to God's will in their style.

Excuses, Excuses!
Ok, so there's a note off here and there...... it wasn't done at Word Records, but in my bedroom, with trucks going by, and air conditioning in the background from time to time. Add to this that my guitar was, on many of the recordings, badly in need of repair, and would be in tune in one place on the neck, and out of tune in another, such that I would have to bend a note to try to make it sound right in certain places on the neck. Furthermore I have no headphone mixer/amplifier, such that I can't mix the sound properly when laying down a track, which makes it very hard to keep time. If you can't hear it, then it's hard to keep time, right? My last excuse is the fact that I am the one laying down all the tracks, when it would be nice to have a good vocalist, a better mandolin player, and a bass player. My bass was stolen, and so it is only on one track, "Trust". (I borrowed one for a couple of the newer songs.)

Excuses over. Page likely to be frequently updated with more, however! Check here for the latest.

Latest excuse: Forgot to mention the fact that in nearly all of the songs available on this site, they were recorded immediately after writing them, and as a means of not forgetting them, and so they necessarily want that polish of performance that can only come from playing them over and over..... and over, etc. OK?
